Riversong Lodge Employment

Welcome to Riversong Lodge

Requirements:

Good communication skills, sound work ethic, service oriented and self-motivated

Healthy, physically fit, clean appearance and drug-free. (may be subject to random drug testing).

Guiding experience is preferred, with knowledge of fly fishing and conventional spin fishing gear as well.

Attitude:

Our guides have a position with very high guest exposure. It is imperative that our personnel enjoy people and enjoy showing guests a fun and memorable experience. The ‘macho’ guide or ‘mountain man’ attitude is NOT what we are looking for. Our guides will share knowledge in a positive manner of encouragement, reinforcement and style. Please have a positive attitude, show your manners, and be courteous at all times. Be Professional, Be Personable, This Is A Condition Of Employment.

Dates of Employment:

You must be available for the entire season from approximately June 1 – September 1

If you are a college student, please advise us of your schedule and we may be able to work with you.

.Daily Schedule and Responsibilities:

Breakfast is at 7:30am, staff must be in the lodge by 7:00am. Be on time, please. Our guides should prepare the evening before and make sure they are ready for the day before breakfast starts. Boats need to be clean and orderly.

Fishing assignments are made out weekly, but are subject to change due to day fishing schedules. Upon guest arrival the guide will then meet the fishermen they are guiding to formulate a plan as to what kind of gear they will need to bring.

You will be guiding most every day. When you are not, you will be expected to help with any chores or projects around the lodge such as chopping wood, construction or, maintenance and cleaning.

Experience:

It is important to remember that guiding is not just the act of helping someone catch a fish, but it is a service industry. You will be required to be helpful, kind, and sincere to our guests. Even though all of our applicants share the passion of fishing, it does not necessarily make them an excellent guide. A skilled guide should be able to communicate with their client, passing on their knowledge and skill. Great client days are not always measured by the number of fish caught, but the knowledge gained, memories created, and experiences shared.  Our guides NEVER fish while guiding.

We will fish two major rivers and some small streams and sloughs. There will be a learning curve as there are several different species of fish, as well as a variety of water. Guides will go through training and river orientations. We do not expect our guides to be experts on our waters.

We are looking for guides who have past guiding experience, trout and salmon species, as well as boat experience. Well-rounded fishing knowledge includes terminal tackle  and  fly fishing.

Equipment:

We operate with numerous boats and almost every day our guides will be operating a boat. Boating safety and handling is an everyday responsibility. We are not off to the races to see who catches the most fish. Safety is always a priority!

WE DO NOT TOLERATE DRUG OR ALCOHOL ABUSE AND PARTYING IS NOT ALLOWED. WE ARE A REPUTABLE ESTABLISHMENT BECAUSE OUR EMPLOYEES ARE DEDICATED PROFESSIONALS.
